Christmas, Once Again

Family Christmas Photo

Another Christmas has come and gone, and this one was one for the books! We truly had the best Christmas with the girls! Vienna is the perfect age for all things Christmas magic, and we loved soaking up every minute of it. Christmas break was late this year, so it seemed like we didn’t have as much of a lead up to Christmas as usual. But, we took the pre-Christmas weekend to do all of our favourite things: decorate cookies & make Christmas goodies, attend our annual family Christmas bowling night with cousins, host Christmas Eve breakfast for our friends, and watch Every. Last. Christmas. Movie. Possible.

Little Library: Christmas Stories for Kids

Round two of our Christmas Little Readers’ list includes books perfect for your preschooler, or kids aged 4-7! Vienna loves Christmas stories, and I love finding new books with meaningful messages for her collection. We save these longer books for when baby sis is in bed and it’s such a nice thing to cozy up and do together, especially during the busy holiday season. For books perfect for younger babies, check out our Baby’s First Christmas Library!

Little Library: Baby’s First Christmas Library

Christmas is my favourite time of year, and, given my love for children’s books, it should be no surprise that kids’ Christmas books are one of my all time favourite things! We love to read these stories all month long as we get into the Christmas spirit! This first Christmas list (there’s more to come!) is a series of five little books that are perfect for younger kids age 0-2. Of course both my girls (age 2 & 4) read and love them, but I find these shorter board books particularly good for the littlest of readers! If you are looking for suggestions for preschoolers, check out our top picks here!

Friday Faves: Cozy gifts for Mamas

Hygee (pronounced hue-guh): a Scandinavian word for a mood of coziness and comfortable conviviality with feelings of wellness and contentment. Yes. Please.

Is anyone else all about the cozy right now? Or always? Maybe I’m Danish at heart. Happiest when found wrapped in a blanket, in comfy clothes, drinking extremely hot coffee or tea with friends or family. So, there’s nothing more fitting than me sharing a few cozy-inspired gifts and stocking ideas for the Mamas this year. Who knew that gifting socks & bath products could look so gorgeous 😉

Stuff the Stockings with Scallywags

The Christmas countdown is on, and if you’re like me you’ve got a few last minute gifts to wrap up. I don’t love crowds, but I do love shopping when everything is so festive! (Perhaps not ever having worked in retail during the holidays has contributed to this. 😉 )

I’ve teamed up with Scallywags, my favourite local children’s shop, to give one winner a $50 credit to shop for those last minute stocking stuffers! Scallywags stocks quality products and beautiful small shop goods, this is truly the store to browse for the absolute best products! Entering is easy, details are at the bottom of this post!

Little Readers: Halloween BOOks for Babes

Happy Halloween! One of my fave ways to celebrate holidays– any and all holidays, that is– is with festive books! Here are five of our fave Halloween themed books this year. Our story time includes books for both of our girls’ ages (2 &4) : we all usually read a few books together before Aria goes to bed, rhyming board books are her jam, (and V knows most of the baby books by memory now, so sometimes she reads!) and then Vienna and I spend some time reading books with a bit more of a story line. And that Little Blue Truck? Always a hit with both kids 😉

Construction Cake Fun

Construction_Cake

This blog is full of all things girly given the two little ladies running the show over here. And, I mean, who am I to say no to all the pink and gold possible?! (Ok, ok, it’s actually me who is influencing the colour scheme around here. And yes, I plan to roll with that for as long as possible).

I also happen to be lucky to have the sweetest little nephew, who doesn’t, however, seem too interested in a rosette birthday cake. He’s the busiest boy ever and loves all things that GO! I had so much fun making this fun construction cake for his 2nd birthday. And that’s not to say this has to be a cake only for boys … my girls of course loved it too. This is a simple and easy cake to pull together. V (age 3) helped to place all of the letters and the trucks and rocks. This is a great cake to make with kids since perfectionism isn’t necessary with dirt and rocks. 😉

Wear Your Story: Meaningful Jewelry

Customized_jewelry_motherhood

Sometimes I think about this online world of ours and how so much of our social lives are online. I’ve made some amazing connections and I truly have friends in this online community. I look forward to seeing the latest posts of their kiddos, reading a funny story from their day, or exchanging advice mama to mama. The best connections often arise when we really get to know someone, the person behind that pretty Instagram feed.

This month I am excited to feature a collaboration that encourages us to tell our stories. Because really, what’s more fun than reppin’ your own life?! I’ve been on a journey to be me this year, and this collaboration is a perfect fit.
