Mama Writes About Me

Welcome to Mama Writes, a little space where I like to gather my thoughts, share advice, and record the happenings of family life. My name is Raina and I’m Mama to Miss V and Baby A, wife to Mike, and a lover of the written word.

I grew up in a small town in British Columbia, Canada and Mike and I are now raising our girls in a town not too far away from home. We first met in my hometown while working for the same company. A few years later we were re-introduced by a mutual friend and, well, the rest is history. (As in, he’s permanently stuck with our holiday-loving, coffee shop-seeking, girl tribe 😉 ) We own a local tourism company and spend a lot of time on our local lake in the summer. Life is BUSY, but it’s so amazing that we get to pursue our passions.

Ever since I was a little girl I remember wanting to be everything when I grew up– a lawyer, a doctor, a nurse, a psychologist … and I think I was in Grade 3. In University I found my groove and true calling in communications. I love to write, and you might say I also love to chat. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, which has taken me through many career paths, from marketing, to speech writing, to fundraising, to internationalization. At the core of it all is my ability to connect with others, something I love to do. I haven’t lost that big dreamer attitude, and in my “spare” time you can find me pursuing my passions as a side hustle– from blogging in this space here, to teaching Pilates, or sharing advice with fellow Mamas.

I imagine one day that this blog will serve as a memory of this time with young babies when time seems to pass far too quickly, and I hope to provide a resource for fellow Moms by sharing bits of our everyday life — from easy DIYs and family recipes, to travel recommendations, to baby gear research. Like I said above, I’ve always wanted to do a bit of everything!

All in all I hope you find some helpful advice, easy reads, and inspiration. Thanks for stopping by.

xo, Raina
