Okanagan Family New Year’s Eve 2019

With Christmas just one week away, we are about to be overwhelmed with more stuff. Over the past few years we have scaled down on how much we buy and are very mindful of what we buy. But, there is still an inevitable influx of toys, especially around the holidays. Two years ago I created a playroom for my girls, which turned out wonderful. But, many other toys– especially art supplies and games– were spread throughout our home, causing chaos.
Last year our family had some big changes– our third baby arrived!– and we hired Corey from Organize My Space. I was drowning in too much stuff and had too little time, and Corey helped me get organized. I know many Moms are overwhelmed by toys … so Corey and I worked together to bring this toy organization post to you, to help you get organized, too!
It’s no secret we love holiday books– we have a collection for each holiday of the year! Our Christmas collection has grown so large that I put together a Christmas book advent calendar! Below are 24 of our favourite Christmas books that are perfect for counting down to Christmas with children. Opening one book each day makes for a very special Christmas story time all December long.
One of my favourite memes, ever. If you’ve had a newborn and watched your husband sleep through those many night wakings, you know exactly what I’m talking about. As a Mom of three, I’ve been through the season of newborn sleep a few times. Our oldest daughter was an amazing sleeper– if you count sleeping only on people in two-hour chunks. We eventually turned to sleep “training” at four months old, and she truly did become an amazing sleeper. Since that experience, we have placed a high value on our family’s sleep.
You’ll hear it often … “time goes by so fast when raising kids”. “Blink and they will be teenagers.” It’s not something you can fully appreciate, until you’re in it. Vienna is already six years old and Aria is now four, and I swear they were just babies! And, at only three months old, Rowen is already growing so fast. I get it now. (And also, I kind of want another baby, lol).
When Suzanne from Smallprint Okanagan offered me the opportunity to freeze time and capture a piece of their littleness, I knew it was the perfect fit. Smallprint Okanagan creates precious prints– from fingerprints to footprints, to handwriting, drawing and even paw prints– in handcrafted, one-of-a-kind, silver keepsakes.
It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Who’s ready to take in all the Christmas fun?! Y’all know we love holidays, and the lead up to Christmas is truly one of my favourite times of the year. Below you’ll find tons of fun winter family events, from town light-ups, to Santa visits, to holiday market shopping. Wishing you all a magical, merry, holiday season! PS- Don’t forget to enter at the bottom of this page to win an advent calendar!
One of our favourite fall traditions is our Halloween bookshelf, filled with fun spooky stories to get in the festive spirit! This collection of Halloween books is perfect for kids in elementary school– our first grader especially loves the silly jokes and sneaky plans to catch & scare a ghost. Enjoy!
Three babies and three hospital deliveries in, I feel a bit like a seasoned pro when it comes time to pack the hospital bag. Each experience I’ve learned something new about what to pack (by way of what I didn’t pack, of course). So, here it is, the ultimate hospital bag list from a Mom of three! xo
It’s that time again! If’ you’ve been following the blog you’ll know I’m a holiday lover and my family loves taking in all the holiday fun. I’m excited to share a local fall and Halloween events guide for fellow families in the Okanagan to enjoy! This post includes the following sections: Farm & Orchard Fun; Pumpkin Patches; and Family-Friendly Activities.
It’s that time of year again: the end of a schedule-free summer and time to dust off the blog and share our annual back to school update! This year has been a big change for us as we welcomed baby Rowen to the family in July. Needless to say September has been met as a welcomed change with the promise of routines and a little more structure after our big adjustment to a new baby at home. Both girls were very excited to head back to school and see all of their friends and start their fall activities. We can’t wait to see how much they learn and grow this next year!
