Happy Fall! Back by popular demand is our list of all of the Okanagan’s Fall and Halloween fun! While 2020 activities might look a little different (and a lot smaller…. welp), there are still plenty of ways to safely enjoy the season here in the Okanagan. Check out the best Okanagan pumpkin patches and celebrate the season with your family (bubble)!

FARM & ORCHARD FUNOkanagan Pumpkin Patch

A visit to these well known Okanagan farms & orchards is a fall must-do! Davison Orchard (Vernon) and McMillan Farms (Kelowna) both offer lots of fun activities for families, plus a hay or tractor ride.  Don-O-Ray farms is another popular place for fall family fun– they are currently closed until October 2 for renovations, check back here for an update soon!

DAVISON ORCHARDS

Location: 3111 Davison Road, Vernon, BC
September Apple Harvest Days
What: Experience the farm by picking your own apples fresh from the tree. Enjoy a tour of the orchard on the Jonny Popper Train, then fill your bag with fresh apples from the tree. Farmers will take you to the apple rows, share about the different available apple varieties, and show you the expert way to pick an apple.
When: Saturday and Sunday 10 am – 4:30 pm; Wednesday – Friday 11 am – 4:00 pm *Last day for apple picking is Sunday September 27th 2020.
Cost: $15 per adult, includes a 10lb bag of apples and tour, kids are $8, includes a 2lb bag of apples and tour. The farm is open from 8am – 6pm daily.

October Family Pumpkin Picking
What: UPDATE: The u-pick pumpkin patch is now closed for the season as per Interior Health guidelines classifying u-pick patches as an event. Please support this local business by purchasing one of their thousands of pumpkins from the market!

DON-O-RAY FARMS

Location: 3443 Benvoulin Road, Kelowna BC
What: Details coming soon
When: October 2 – 31st, 1:00 pm – 7:00 pm

Janzen Garlic Acres

Location: 2912 Grieve Road, Kelowna
What: Petting zoo and other fun farm attractions including sandboxes, feeding the animals, cow train rides and family hayrides! This is a new farm for families to visit and is highly recommended by local Moms! $5 entry for kids, $10 per adult.
When: Wednesday to Saturday 9:00 am-5:00 pm and Sundays 2:00 -5:00 pm

MCMILLAN FARMS

Location: #1 – 3690 Berard Rd, Kelowna, BC
What: Tractor hay rides showcasing the 110 acre farm, corn maze (the largest in Kelowna), a giant sling shot to shoot gourds or apples through. The petting farm (visit for free!) includes pigs, pygmy goats, rabbits, horses, donkeys, a llama and more. There is an onsite concession with drinks and snacks for purchase.
When: Opening day Saturday September 26th! Book your tickets in advance here.
Cost: Fun Pack includes hayride, corn maze and sling shot for 1 person. Children (ages 3 to 13)$5.00, Adults $8.00 Food and pumpkins available for additional cost. General admission (excludes activities) $3 per person.

Kelowna Pumpkin Patches

If you are looking for a great pumpkin patch experience, two highly recommended patches are The Pumpkin Patch (St. Anne’s, Armstrong) and Bilga Farms (Kelowna). Buy your pumpkins early to get the best pick and store them outside (in the garage or cold room) until closer to Halloween!

Bilga Farms 

You can’t miss this place when driving down Rutland Road!
Location: 1900 Rutland Rd. North, Kelowna, BC
When: Open daily 9 am – 5 pm in October

St. Annes Pumpkin Patch

This place has thousands of pumpkins, in addition to gourds, ornamental corn, and a variety of squash. Pick your own pumpkin and take some fall pictures on the hay wagon (no rides).
Location: 642 St. Anne’s Road Armstrong. Follow the pumpkins past O’Keefe Ranch!
When: Dawn til Dusk, October 1-31.

Kokanee Salmon Programs 
Date: Hardy Falls September 9 – 9:30 – 10:30 am / 11:00 am – 12:00 pm September 23 – 9:30 – 10:30 am / 11:00 am – 12:00 pm • Mission Creek September 16 – 9:30 – 10:30 am / 11:00 am – 12:00 pm September 30 – 9:30 – 10:30 am / 11:00 am – 12:00 pm
Location: Hardy Falls and Mission Creek Regional Parks
What: Thousands of our fresh water, land-locked salmon will leave Okanagan Lake and swim upstream in creeks and streams to spawn in their natal waters. Join a Park Interpreter at one of two key spawning locations for one of two sessions each day. Learn more about the Kokanee salmon life cycles and unlock some of the fishy mysteries of the Okanagan. October Family Fun Days
Date: Every weekend in October from 11 am – 4 pm
Location: O’Keefe Ranch, 9380 Hwy 97N, Vernon
What: Try the family-friendly corn maze, meet the goats (12-2:00 pm), visit the general store, do the pumpkin scavenger hunt & pick a pumpkin.

Kelowna Corn Maze
Date: October 1-31
Location: 539 Valley Road, Kelowna
What: This year will include two mazes, one family friendly and one scary. Check back for details on opening dates and times!

Cultural Days
Date: September 25 – October 24, 2020
Location: Rotary Centre for the Arts
What: Performances, Demonstrations & Activities happening all month long! Click the link for a full list of activities and events.

Downtown Kelowna Scavanger Hunt
Date: October 3 – October 25
Location: Downtown Kelowna
What: Explore arts and culture in Downtown Kelowna through a month long scavenger hunt! Sponsored by the Downtown Kelowna Association, the scavenger hunt features public art, exhibitions, cultural landmarks, and community venues as checkpoints! This is a free, family-friendly, fully-accessible activity that allows you to experience art and culture on your own time PLUS a chance to win exciting prize packages.

FH & P Lawyers Pumpkin Carving Contest
Date: October 5 – 22
Location: Online!
What: Carve a pumpkin, post a picture, and have a chance to win big prizes from FH & P Lawyers.

Myra Canyon Halloween Scare Park
Date: October 23  – November 1
Location: 4429 June Springs Road, Kelowna
What: Myra Canyon Halloween SCARE Park is back and better than ever! There will be age-appropriate fun and scares for young and not so young. General Admission: $25/person. Children 4 and under: free. Reserve your tickets here.
