Kid-friendly Kelowna Coffee Shops

Kelowna Coffee Shops with Kids

It’s always amazed me how challenging it can be to find a coffee shop to enjoy a cup of coffee while your children play. Can’t a barista understand that the key to happiness may well exist at the bottom of an uninterrupted cup of hot coffee? I guess as a Mom I’m a bit biased. We wouldn’t want to cramp anyone’s style. 😉 But here are some local coffee shops that have a welcoming atmosphere for kids. Enjoy your coffee, parents!

Kid Friendly Coffee in Kelowna

  1. Kettle Valley Scoops

This is a neighbourhood coffee shop in Kettle Valley that has kids in mind! There is a great play space for kids to explore and play while you enjoy your coffee, including lot’s of toys (train table, kitchen set, little people, plus a small TV). They also serve tons of treats (ice cream and milk shakes included) and food. This place unfortunately is a bit too far from our home base, otherwise we’d be regulars. My kids’ favourite park is the one in Kettle Valley, too!

Address: 203, 5315 Main St. Kelowna (Kettle Valley)
    Phone: 250-764-1777

  2. Hillcrest Farm Market

This is a favourite spot on our list! Hillcrest has a small, outdoor, gated play area for kids next to the restaurant. There are also tables in the play area, making it the perfect place to enjoy lunch and coffee outside. The girls and I stop here often in the summer while my husband is working, and it is a welcomed moment of peace for this Mama! They offer a kids’ menu, high chairs, and a kid-friendly atmosphere (you’ll often meet the owners’ grandchildren in the restaurant). Unfortunately Hillcrest has shorter winter hours (with some seasonal closures) but it’s not to be missed when the sun is shining!

    Address: 700 Highway 33, Kelowna

  3. Bean Scene, Downtown (Bernard)

The Bean Scene has great coffee (their caramel macchiato is my favourite indulgence!) and delicious food (vegan options available too!). Their Bernard location has a little fun under-the-stairs nook for kids to play in. There is a chalk-board  wall, a basket of toys, and some cozy seating. The only drawback is this place is popular, and sometimes too busy for our liking. My girls love their kids’ hot chocolate with a “party on top” (whip and caramel sauce)!

    Address: 371 Bernard Ave, Kelowna
    Phone: 250-763-1814

  4. Bean Scene, North (Ellis)

Someone at Bean Scene headquarters must have kids, as this chain makes our list twice! This downtown location on Ellis has quickly become a favourite for us. The location is small, and it doesn’t have a separate play area for kids, but it is much quieter than the Bernard location. My girls really enjoy playing here with the small basket of blocks and books. This spot is conveniently close to the skating rink and library downtown, and makes for a great spot to warm up in the winter. Reader tip: they have a clean change table and the baristas are always welcoming to kids!

    Address: 1399 Ellis St., Kelowna
    Phone: 236-420-1192

  5. Sprout Bakery

Relatively new to the coffee shop scene this downtown location gets our vote for its kid-friendly menu items (hello pretzels and sweet treats!). They also have a kids table in one corner, although there are very few toys, so I’d recommend bringing your own colouring books or activities for the little ones.

    Address:125-1295 Cannery Lane, Kelowna
    Phone: 236-420-2122

  6. Marmalade Cat Cafe

This was submitted by a reader and we are so happy to include it! Located in Pandosy village, this cute coffee shop is kid-friendly, equipped with a kids’ table, crayons, and colouring books to keep your littles busy. Their tasty menu includes lots of gluten free and vegan-friendly snacks, too.

Address: #103, 2903 Pandosy Street, Kelowna
    Phone: 250-861-4158

  7. Ki’bok Churros & Coffee House

While this shop doesn’t have a kids’ play area, it comes highly recommended from readers for its delicious hot chocolate and amazing churros! Plus they have a cozy and welcoming atmosphere perfect for families. We can’t wait to check them out!

Address: 482 West Ave (Pandosy Village), Kelowna
    Phone: 250-717-3570

Kid-friendly coffee shops seem few and far between… I’d love to add to this list if you know of any more! I’ve included the address and phone number, hours are always changing so make sure you look them up first! Enjoy your hot coffee! xo
