Little Library: Baby’s First Christmas Library

Christmas is my favourite time of year, and, given my love for children’s books, it should be no surprise that kids’ Christmas books are one of my all time favourite things! We love to read these stories all month long as we get into the Christmas spirit! This first Christmas list (there’s more to come!) is a series of five little books that are perfect for younger kids age 0-2. Of course both my girls (age 2 & 4) read and love them, but I find these shorter board books particularly good for the littlest of readers! If you are looking for suggestions for preschoolers, check out our top picks here!

Christmas Books for the Little Ones

A Christmas Carol Jennifer Adams
We love Babylit books, a series that brings a classical literature to your little one’s library. This is part of their color primer series, so you’ll meet the ghosts of Christmas past, present, and future, along with other characters from the classic tale through silver chains, gold stars, and a red scarf. These books have been perfect for introducing colors, and we love the kid-friendly version of this classic Christmas story!

Bear Stays Up for Chirstmas Karma Wilson
This is a sweet story about a hibernating bear that wakes up to spend Christmas with his forest friends. The animals prepare for Christmas together, and Bear discovers that giving is the best thing about Christmas.

Dream Snow Eric Carle
A simple story about a farmer, his animals, and a dream. This book has lift the flaps that hide the animals under the farmer’s dream snow, paired with beautiful illustrations. From the author of the well-known The Very Hungry Caterpillar, this book is sure to be well-loved.

Little Blue Truck’s Christmas  Alice Schertle
It’s no surprise this book made our list, that little blue truck has captured my girls’ hearts all. year. round. With the addition of flashing Christmas lights it’s actually surprising we are reading anything else. 😉

The Itsy Bitsy Snowman Jeffrey Burton
You’ll recognize this series from our Halloween version– I mean who can resist a catchy, holiday song to the tune of the itsy bitsy spider? A cute little story to sing to your little ones.

These board books are the perfect start to a holiday library for little kids! We hope you enjoy these holiday stories as much as us! xo

  1. Thanks so much for these suggestions. My girls are older, but we still pull out a special basket of favorite Christmas book each year. May have to add a few of these.

  3. Just wanted to pop back in and tell you I bought 3 of these for my nephew for Christmas because I often do bath time and then story time with him, and he LOVES story time. So these were amazing ideas for me! Thank you!

  4. What a sweet list! My nieces and nephews absolutely adore books and I think “santa” may need to add a few of these to their gifts this year ;D
